Central library services under one roof!

26th April 2011, Leicester City Council's central library services were  brought together under one roof in what was previously the Central Learning and Information Library building. Located right in the city centre on Bishop Street (off the Town Hall Square), the  refurbished 'Leicester Central Library'  delivers a wide variety of services with longer opening hours.

The City Council offers more customer benefits The refurbishment has improved this building and revealed some fine features hidden previously from public view.

Hidden behind a new glass stair case used by staff is an original cast iron stair case worth a look, pity there is no access.

Customer benefits
  • Longer opening hours:
  • Refurbished building – lighter, brighter and spacious
  • Improved stock layout and signage
  • Free access to public computers
  • New! Downloadable E-Books
  • Informal learning activities
  • Exciting author events programme
