During this period, the main library building will be closed, but residents will still be able to borrow books from a new temporary library being set up at St Mary’s Congregational Hall on Chapel Lane (Ketton).
The temporary service will operate from Tuesday 13 March until Saturday 2 June.
Opening hours are Tuesday (2.00pm – 6.00pm), Friday (9.00am – 12.00pm and 2.00pm – 6.00pm) and also Saturday mornings (9.00am – 12.00pm).
Portfolio Holder for Libraries, Roger Begy, commented: “We are looking forward to the opening of the joint library/doctors surgery in June but need to carry out some refurbishment work ahead of this. I’m pleased, and I’m sure local residents will be also, that we have found a way of continuing to deliver the library service during this period”.
Roger Begy added: “Due to the temporary nature of the setup at the Congregational Hall, we are only able to offer book loans during this period, although other items of stock can be supplied on request. If you want to access the full range of other library services (such as internet access, audio books, reference or local studies materials) then you can find contact details and opening hours for our other libraries (Oakham, Uppingham and Ryhall) on the council website”.
Roger Begy added: “You can of course reserve your books online as usual and pick up from the temporary library during the publicised opening hours”.
The joint library/doctors surgery project is the result of months of hard work between Rutland County Council, Uppingham Surgery (who are responsible for Ketton surgery), the Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Ketton Parish Council.
