Chepstow Park, Barleythorpe
Barleythorpe Parish Council and County Councillor David Blanksby are working together as part of the Community Climate Change Action and as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy to plant bulbs and trees around the Parish of Barleythorpe.
Four hundred square metres of mixed daffodil and narcissus have been planted in the Parish of Barleythorpe this month. These areas include the northern end of Old Barleythorpe on the eastern side of Barleythorpe Main Road and in areas on each of our main parks. The Parish Council would like to plant a further five areas identified in 2022 to 2023. This should ensure a wonderful Spring display for all residents to enjoy for years to come and promote wildlife in the area.
In regards to tree planting we have ordered four hundred and twenty saplings from the Woodland Trust and up to two hundred larger saplings, with a number of hedgerow plants / bushes to supplement the new trees which will help to create a natural wooded environment.
The four hundred and twenty Woodland Trust Saplings will be planted as Part of The Queen’s Green Canopy along with a variety of indigenous species of trees. Trees will also be planted near Barleythorpe Brook and fifteen Cherry Trees will be planted along the side of Barleythorpe Pond to create a flowering avenue in spring. Mature saplings will also be planted in our other main park areas. Barleythorpe Parish Council will be looking to extend the tree planting in future years to provide woodland areas for all residents to enjoy.
The planned tree planting sessions are taking place as below, we are asking volunteers to come along to any sessions they are available.
1. Saturday 6th November 10 to 12noon
2. Saturday 6th November 1pm to 3pm
3. Sunday 7th November 10 to 12noon
4. Sunday 7th November 1pm to 3pm

8. Sunday 14th November 1pm to 3pm

Greedy, Oakham Town Council, Boundary Review, New Larkfleet Homes Barleythorpe, Council Writes To Helen Briggs
After sitting and listening to the clerk a few months back, when he told Councillors "all the new homes in the area are good for the town council, because they would receive a increased precept
and the town council would not have to provide any additional services"
I would like to suggest the new residents of Barleythorpe should be aware of the Town Councils
intentions to drag them into the parish of Oakham.
The residents should get together a politely tell them to sod off!
The greed of Oakham Town Council is disgusting.
The resident should get together and fight this disgraceful dysfunctional town council, It may be possible for them to set up their own parish council in Barleythorpe and set a zero precept.

If you can't fit you're new sofa into you're new small home, there
is plenty of room in the street.
There is more than one reason why show homes contain small
furniture.
I recently visited a show home that had no furniture and the rooms
looked small. I should point out it was not this site.
