MP Alan Duncan, All over the world there is often a collision between gay rights and religious fundamentalism....particularly in more primitive cultures. Oakham & Rutland Councils?

Rutland MP Alan Duncan:

All over the world there is often a collision between gay rights and religious fundamentalism, if you want to call it that. And that collision is difficult to resolve, particularly in more primitive cultures.

"Some countries are going backwards [on gay rights] and the use of gay hate as a vulgar form of nationalism

These comments could be applied to Oakham Town Council and Rutland County Council.

Rutland Fair-Trade Event Oakham Castle, MP Alan Duncan, Oakham Mayor, Photographs, Send a Cow

Rutland Fair-Trade Event Oakham Castle, MP Alan Duncan, Oakham Mayor, Photographs

http://rutlandfairtrade.wordpress.com/

Oakham Mayor Adam Lowe officially opened this years Fair-Trade even at Oakham Castle
The event is still open this afternoon. I know your meant to look out for things behind people
when taking their photographs the castle has so many of these horse shoes and I think the crown
suits him. Although I think a Jesters hat would be more suitable for this jolly councillor.

I joked with Mr Duncan regarding his purchase of he rug/blanket, was it to help reduce his domestic
fuel bills?

I suggested MP's should be paid a wage instead of allowance and expenses he agreed. "claiming expenses is demeaning"

I pointed out the Chief Executive of Rutland County Council seemed to be happy with her very large salary not needing to claim for her electricity and gas.

"little connection to the town of Corby" MP Alan Duncan, Christine Emmett, Corby Election

“There are close and well-established local ties between the wards making up the existing constituency of Rutland and Melton. These wards and, in particular, the settlements of Oakham and Uppingham have very little connection to the town of Corby.” says MP Alan Duncan speaking of his relief that Corby will not become pert of his watch

Corby voters might think there is little connection between them and the Tory Candidate Christine Emmett
who runs her business in Uppingham which is a "settlement which has very little connection with Corby."

In my years living here in Oakham, I have met some people who escaped Corby.

The Tories like to knock Corby only last week self confessed Oakham Tory Deputy Mayor Adam Lowe
said chairing a meeting at Oakham Town Council, people in Corby "don't pay for their domestic electricity usage"

Cllr Lowe said he has always been a Tory since Mrs Thatcher let him buy his council house.

I reminded him that was some time ago and the debt to her party must be paid in full by now..

Welby, Melton Mowbray Shootings, MP Alan Duncan "The householder is the victim here, and justice should support them and prosecute the burglars"

After as farmer and his young wife are arrested by Leicestershire Constabulary for blasting intruders with a shot gun, MP for Rutland & Melton issued a statement.

In his statement this afternoon Mr Duncan, a Government minister, said: “If this is a straightforward case of someone using a shotgun to defend themselves against burglars in the dead of night, then I would hope that the police will prosecute the burglars and not my constituents.
“The householder is the victim here, and justice should support them and prosecute the burglars.”

MP Alan Duncan, MP for Rutland & Melton and Minister of State for International Development Starts Tesco Rutland - Melton International CiCLE Classic Race, Oakham, Photographs

MP Alan Duncan, MP for Rutland & Melton and Minister of State for International Development Starts the 2011 Tesco Rutland - Melton International CiCLE Classic Race with Peter Lawson, Current. The High Sheriff of Rutland here in Oakham this morning.

Chief Executive of Rutland County Council Helen Briggs, I am not sure if she was being asked, what do you think about all the staff cuts and other cuts in services and funding? or do you think Martin Brookes has a chance of winning at the May 5th Election?

Mrs Briggs has clearly shown she carries out an important role at Rutland County Council, as well as being chief executive, she is also head of democratic services and is also the returning officer. She is such a valuable asset to Rutland County Council, she has taken two weeks holiday in the middle of preparing for elections, I guess there are not many councils throughout the England that can match that?
