Oakham Town Council Meeting Agenda 9th February 2022 (No supporting documents)

Oakham Town Council Meeting Agenda 9th February 2022 (No supporting documents)

I received a communication from Oakham Town Council they state it is not currently their policy to publish recordings of meetings on their website. Oakham Town Council stopped complying with the law to do so in 2019.

I assume it is no longer within their policy to publish past agenda and minutes as they have also failed to comply with that law since 2019.

https://oakhamtowncouncil.gov.uk/committees/

https://oakhamtowncouncil.gov.uk/minutes/

Recordings up to 2019 can be found on the contact page of the website?

https://oakhamtowncouncil.gov.uk/contacting-us/

The agenda for the last meeting was not published, this weeks has been published without the supporting documents.

Oakham Town Council Meeting Agenda 11th August 2021 6.30pm

This is a dreadful agenda, it contains mistakes and lacks all the required information

A council agenda is meant to give clear details about what should be considered by the council members and the decisions they are required to make once they have considered the item.

One example of how poor the Clerks work is this agenda item.

17. ROL HOUSE SMOKE DETECTORS

No report, So I can only guess Oakham Town Council is going to have to pay for smoke detectors in the building it rents. What I can never understand is why they pay for things that their landlord probably should pay for. But when it comes to all their tenants we the tax payer have to pay. Most of the Councils tenants pay little rent often well below the market value and then just like the Dance Company in Princess Avenue they are asking Oakham Tax Payer to pay for CCTV they want. I assume the nearby large CCTV camera Rutland County Council placed on Oakham Town Council land is not doing its job?

There is a grant application from All Saints Church Oakham who want £1000 to repair bells? It is not the town council job to fix the bells the church was eventually told it was the councils job to fix the clock.

The Town Council is to consider spending over £10,000 on bollards to stop people parking it is not clear if this in front of garages they don't own. For some strange reason the own the land in front of the derelict garages. If  it is I believe this would be is a total waste of tax payers money. because people will probably just park in front of the bollards as they do in Willow Crescent play area or it could be for the spaces in the car park leased to the dance school and if that is the case the tax payers certainly should not be paying. It is very frustrating we paid for the small wooden fencing when the tenant should have paid at the time the previous Clerk said they will pay for it to be maintained in the future.

This is also a perfect example of the laziness of the clerk in only obtaining one quote. The two bollards in Willow Crescent did not cost anywhere near one of these.

16. PRINCESS AVENUE PARKING (Appendix H)

To consider a quotation and to make any decisions as appropriate

This one should be interesting, no report or costs. I guess if they get a photo then they can put it online so people can see who their councillors are. Oakham Town Council still have members who don't want the public they are meant to serve know who they are.

18. COUNCILLOR ID CARDS

To consider the introduction of identification cards for staff and Councillors

Christmas Lights £28,000 lights the town rent and when they get broken by Wilko we have to pay? Lets hope this year the Clerk can be bothered to ask the company to put them up higher at the point where the six wheel very high Wilko lorry hits them each year.

11. AUTHORISATION TO PAY AN INVOICE OVER £5000 (Appendix D)

To authorise the payment of Invoice No 100365, £14380 + VAT for The Christmas

Decorators, for 50% confirmation to proceed
