Kevin Tighe, CEO and David Wood, Chairman, Rutland Agricultural Society. Oakham Rutland We regret the disruption that has been caused and apologise to all those effected.

Rutland Showground

The Rutland Agricultural Society had accepted a booking of its showground site on the edge of Oakham from St Hilda’s Church Darlington to run a Christian Festival. This outdoor event is self-contained using no onsite facilities other than a set of fields of around 45 acres. It is being managed by 90 pastors supported by a team of 40 stewards. In addition, we have a team of security staff on site.

We required the event organisers produce an event risk assessment which covered a with a range of issues including the management of covid risks. To the best of our knowledge this is being implemented. In addition, we asked the event organisers to complete and submit to the Council an event notification.

The event which has around 1500 adults and children in their own motor homes/caravans has also attracted a minority who have been causing a disproportionate amount of antisocial activity. We are working closely with the organisers and liaising with the authorities to minimise and contain this antisocial activity.

We regret the disruption that has been caused and apologise to all those effected.

Sunday, cooler and breezy with heavy rain clearing later

Oakham Town Council has spent £190 to go long with
two gazebos.

One will be filled with Cllr Lowes interesting historic display
about Oakham connections world war one.

The other will display something arranged by Cllr Lucas. Not
sure what.

I have asked for information I can hand out relating to
the three vacancies on Oakham Town Council and co-option
information.

That is all I know about the Town Council
participation because Cllr Joyce Lucas is still refusing to
communicate with me because of a complaint I made
over 4 years ago! which she claims "effects her mental health."

It looks as it could be a long day with Cllr Lucas BEM
because as of Wednesday no other Councillor had indicated they
were willing to assist with the stand stand. Hopefully there
will be a lot of public to chat with throughout the day.

It seems to me a lot of money has been given to the RAS for
little purpose.

I am told the Fire Service will not be present this year after
they were asked to pay £360.

Leicestershire Police will be present so they still appear
to have a surplus public fund to throw at the RAS.

Some local businesses say they can not afford the RAS charges.

These days the RAS seems to be all about money.

Only this week I was reading a grant application from a
sports group which said it had spent all its reserves since the
move to the new location due to high charges imposed by the
RAS.

Larkfleet Homes Closed most of the time, I guess they followed Tory Chief Executive Helen Briggs into the members paddock.

Not sure if these people are waiting for the opening of Marks & Spencer Simply Food or they were enjoying the sun in Oakham's industrial estate. Most newly built homes don't have much of a garden these days.
