Brendan Rodgers manager of Premier League club Leicester City says 'he works in local shop here in Oakham Rutland and that is why I am so popular'

Brendan Roger waiting for a Hoagies Sandwich

Today I met Brendan Rodgers the Northern Irish professional football manager and former player who is the manager of Premier League club Leicester City. A lot of people were asking him for selfies and he was agreeing to have his photograph taken. I was not sure who he was, so I asked him and he cheekily replied that he worked in a local shop and was very popular. It suggest he was fibbing, although there may have been a little truth with him saying he worked in a shop and that is why he was popular, he once worked for John Lewis in their main warehouse in Bracknell.  I asked a man who hand taken a selfie of Brendon whilst he waited with others for a sandwich from Hoagies of Oakham.

This reminded me of the time I was asked for a selfie in Tesco, I was working one Easter weekend, a man and his wife asked. The man had remembered me from my primary school days. I did not remember him.

Unusual Large Police Presence Here In Oakham Rutland Due To The Christian Religious Festival Currently Being Held At The Rutland County Showground

Large Police Presence Here In Oakham Rutland Due To The Christian Religious Festival Currently Being Held At The Rutland County Showground.

The is a lot of comment on social media stating there are no police or only one present here in Oakham.

The town is flooded with police, a number of officers are driving around in patrol cars.

Many are parked in side streets close to the showground and area, probably the most protected here in Oakham.

Yesterday I spotted tactical support officers and a dog unit.

The police and crime commissioner has told us yesterday, plain clothes police operating in the area and two arrests were made at the weekend

The anti social behaviour outside the venue of course is unacceptable, it has been much lower than a football match day in Leicester and more people are often arrested at most matches.

It is a great shame some local drinking and eating places have had to protect their staff by closing during this week.

Some are breaking that closure to open by booking only, for the football I hope there staff will be safe.

When there is a Light and Life Church Service held in the main tent the police are more visible, assisting with traffic management as many visitors to the showground arrive and leave at that time.

I am told we should expect many visitors on Wednesday evening, because this is when the main church event will be held.

Below are some images of the police working in the area. I don't photograph them all because they might get annoyed.

The new patrol car in McDonalds is fitted with APNR, so that should put some social media users minds at rest, they are looking up registration numbers and posting if the car has no tax or insurance...

The Industrial estate is being guarded by private security companies with a dog unit.

The BP M&S petrol station has a security guard on the door, the one yesterday was useless.

Aldi have also brought in security guards.

In the town Wilko for the first time ever has brought in security guards to protect their staff and store.

The good news for many living in fear here in Oakham and Rutland the event will end Thursday and the visitors will all leave the showground Friday morning.

Stewards are doing litter patrols and like all events held at the show ground bins for rubbish have been hired. along with 500 porta loos. Many of the travellers have there own.

Finally the Stewards / Pastors asked me to remind everyone they are welcome to visit the showground at any time especially at the 6.30pm service time. I declined further invitations because I am beyond saving...

McDonalds has locked it doors and suspended
its click and collect app service.
It is also closing the drive thru at 7pm so staff
can get home safely.
They are no longer open 24hrs for this week.

The Old Buttercross pub is closed.
