Cllr Adam Lowe New Oakham Town Councillor

Cllr Adam Lowe New Oakham Town Councillor

Oakham Town Council kept up its tradition of warmly welcoming new members tonight.

Cllr Lowe got stuck in and did a good job for a first meeting he was better than he thinks.

He exercised his right to vote against a proposal and I believe he may have sensed some disapproval and enquired is that all right or will I be beaten up?

Those who may wish to do that are rather to cowardly and get to members using other methods.

I was a little concerned Cllr Matthew Taylor seemed to be taking the easy option tonight he abstain rather a lot. It is my understanding a Cllr should consider the proposal and vote yes or no, its important the public knows were their Cllr stands on any issue.

And dont worry Mr Taylor a no vote is not going to grant Oakham Town Council a discount on cement at Cllr Lowes builders yard, well I don't think it will?

Heros For Help RAF Cottesmore

Heros For Help RAF Cottesmore

Oakham Town Council is hoping personal from RAF Cottesmore will paint fencing around Cutts Close and the Shelter in Cutts Close.

As part of the RAF's Farewell to local resident.

I do hope locals don't think they are the prisoners, from HMP Ashwell who have carried out this task in the past.

Oakham Town Council Christmas Events

Oakham Town Council feels both Carol Concert and the Late Night Shopping went very well.

I agree both event were super and I thank all those who worked hard organising both events

I would say it is disappointing after all the hard work by the children and grown ups the Carol Concert only raised £100.04 for the church and the Mayors Charity.

The Council will be writing and thanking the Head Teacher of Oakham Church of England Primary School.

Oakham Town Christmas Lights Maybe Switched OFF!

You may have noticed that a large number of bulbs on the Christmas displays have stopped working.

This is very embarrassing for the Town Council.

The bulbs were very cheap.

The have said that the good Clerk has contacted the manufactures about this issue and they tested to -5 degrees.

Over the past two weeks is has been a lot colder and this may have caused the problems.

The company is to carry out some tests this week.

It has been suggested the worse effected area the High Street is switched off!

So sadly it looks like Christmas is over in Oakham earlier this year.
