Confusing changes
I wrote to Rutland County Council Communications Officer for imformation relating to changes at the top of the Council.
I was very promptly sent the following:
Dear Mr Brookes,
Thanks you for your email. I can confirm that the details are on our website and can be found at http://www.rutland.gov.uk/pp/gold/viewGold.asp?IDType=Page&ID=21599
This page is easily accessible from the Homepage by clicking on the About Us link.

I checked out the link and found the following
Council Directors
Rutland County Council has a very simple council structure
that enables us to provide high-quality services to the community
and operate in the most efficient manner possible.
The Chief Executive is Helen Briggs.
Three Strategic Directions are responsible for (I am wondering if that is meant to read directors
People (Carol Chambers),
Places (Aman Mehra)
and Resources (Debbie Muddimer).
I also found this information showing 10 directors, does this now mean the council only has 5 directors
Chief Officer Remuneration
The Council is required to disclose remuneration details by name of officers whose salary is £150,000 or more.
There is also a requirement to provide details by posts for officers whose remuneration is between £50,000 and £149,999 or alternatively to provide a statement of the number of officers whose remuneration falls within certain bandings. In this respect, remuneration includes employer’s pension contributions and election fees.
In order to promote openness and transparency, the following table gives details by posts for officers earning less than £150,000. There is no officer whose salary is £150,000 or more.
The follow figures apply for 2009/10 -
**Please note the council structure has now changed since this table was published**
Post Title Salary including fees and allowances Benefits in kind - car allowances Total excluding pension Pensions contributions Total including pension contributions
Chief Executive
Salary including fees and allowances £109,185

I am wondering what package is going to be paid to those directors who have lost thier jobs?
Are they going to sue the council?
And who interviewed the candidates for the new post and who was responsible for keeping Mrs Briggs?
Lets hope the elections next May will sort things.
