Suspicious Vehicles
Can we please ask you to be aware of any suspicious vehicles parked up around Rutland.
Yesterday we received a report that a white transit van had been parked in the village of Greetham for 2 days.
Officers attended the vehicle to find a white transit van with the livery of a gardening company on the side of it and it’s contact details. There appeared to be nothing suspicious about this vehicle.
After an initial look around the vehicle, officers smelt diesel coming from the rear of the van and after forcing entry they found x2,1000 litres containers and fuel pumping machinery inside.
The company name on the side of the transit was a legitimate company but they had recently scrapped the vehicle.
Over the past few days in the Greetham area there has been a reported theft of diesel from vehicles and then an attempted theft of diesel, where officers arrested one suspect and it is believed that this van is linked to these incidents.
Over the next several weeks Rutland LPU will be running a ‘stop that van’ campaign and we request your patience if your van is stopped.
If you see anybody or anything acting suspicious please call Leicestershire Constabulary on 101.
Calls to 101 cost 15p for the entire call from both mobiles and land lines
