Catmose Campus Official Opening by Dr Laurence Howard, H.M. Lord Lieutenant of Rutland O.B.E, JP
Oakham Mayor Cllr Joyce Lucas, Dr Laurence Howard, H.M. Lord Lieutenant of Rutland O.B.E, J.P,
Stuart Williams, the Principal Catmose College, Edward Baines Chairman of Rutland County Council and Helen Briggs, the Chief Executive of Rutland County Council
Today was the official opening of Catmose Campus, marking the achievement and success of one of Rutland's biggest projects to date.
I felt a little bit like a gatecrasher as the Town Council had not contributed in anyway to this project.
The hospitality from the college was superb, plenty to drink soft or bubbly. The nibbles from Waitrose...
We were are shuffled into the theatre, via the art gallery currently showing student works.
Once in the theatre the Principle spoke and thanked all involved and then it was the turn of two head students who spoke about the benefits of the new campus.
Then Dr Laurence spoke and cut a ribbon in front of the stage and the curtain opened and we were treated to highlights from the student production of Hair Spray, Very talented students, it would have been good to see the whole show. I don't think my school ever put on performances like this one.

Then Helen Briggs spoke
After this we all took a look around the Campus, I was very impressed by Anna who offered a tour of the Campus. She was very informative and explained many features in great detail. I asked questions and received good answers.
Mr Stuart is rightly very proud of his students and staff and the new campus. Even if the students call his new restaurant a canteen... They also appear to be enjoying their new Campus.
I departed feeling very cheerful and then it was of to Oakham Town Council that was a long night................

Cllr John Nowell, Co-opted onto Oakham Town Council
Cllr John Nowell, Co-opted was onto Oakham Town Council,
It was one very long council meeting tonight, I arrived at Oakham Town Council at around 6.30pm and departed at 9.30pm. I have never seen a Oakham Town Council meeting extended before.
I had a feeling at the end of the meeting someone gained some slight pleasure, be they forgot to tell me a standards inspector was present.
Of course there were the normal signs, Cllr Dewis was charming and agendas had been placed on chair for the non existent public, also the Chairman Cllr Lucas was grovelling can I say that? who cares.
The meeting dragged as the town council fails to carry out any ground work we spent a large portion of the meeting discussing the number of members to send to outside bodies and decide who would be the representative. More than once the Clerk appeared to be tearing his hair out in frustration and the way the meeting was progress or not. I shared his frustration.
I attempted to gain support from the Council to save the Green Field along Barleythorpe Road, Cllr Dewis said it would be difficult or the council to do anything so it looks like Oakham Town Council can't help. If any residents want the support of a town councillor I am willing to try and help.
We discussed co-option and amended a standing order, I am not sure why? Something Cllr Dewis wanted.
We looked at a tourist leaflet and agreed to publish it.
We managed to reach the planning items and passed everything and went home.

Cllr John Nowell,
Oakham town council
I thought every time RCC visit my blog I would publish the visitit details but then I thought I would be nothing but posting if I did that.
So just this once this shows how quickly they visited my last new post.
Is it not good to see how the Council is spending your money so wisely, Now I am not posting anything else this afternoon. So he can get on with his more important role of twittering.

Rutland County Council, Communications Officer a waste of Tax Payers Money?
Did the tax payer know Rutland County Council pay a member of staff to watch my blog, every time I post they visit. They say it's in the Councils interest. I doubt if there is much for a communication officer to do at Rutland County Council. I expect the job pays well? Now he seems to have a family on the way I guess he needs every penny.
