Homeless woman who chose's to live in Bridge Street Valerie Collins

recently Peterborough Telegraph reported

The mother of two has spent months living out of bins, but claims to be planning to fly 

out to Portugal in the next few days before heading to Texas in America.

Valerie Collins has spent 11 months sleeping in the small sheltered entrance 

to the closed down Pizza Roma restaurant.

She owns her own home.

Valerie explained her motive to live in Bridge Street was “just to observe life, 

what people are doing, how they act and what makes them tick.”

She has encountered a few “nutty ones in the evening,” and claims to have observed 

animals who are more pleasant.

she will be glad to leave Peterborough behind.

“I won’t miss it, it’s not a place I like to be,”

burglary secured non-dwelling on Main Road in Glaston

Between 16/11/2016 22:30 & 17/11/2016 01:30 a burglary was carried out to a secured non-dwelling on Main Road in Glaston. Entry was gained by forcing a fire door and various food items stolen.

Since the last Neighbourhood watch brief we have had one report of criminal damage to a caravan in Willoughby Drive, Empingham. The hitchlock had been damaged. It looks as if the suspects have tried to steal the caravan and then realised there is also a wheel lock and so gave up. This incident occurred between 11/11/2016 00:01 & 14/11/2016 08:00.

One report of criminal damage to the Band Stand in Cutts Close, Oakham. A bench had been pulled out and a tap damaged. This incident occurred between 15/11/2016 09:00 & 16/11/2016 18:00.
One report of criminal damage to a patio door window in Huntsmans Drive, Oakham. It appears that someone had thrown something at the door and smashed the glass. This incident occurred on 17/11/2016 between 19:45 &19:50.

Collette's Sleep Easy 2016 To raise awareness and funding for the homeless for YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough


Collette Francis from Oakham spent the night sleeping rough.... again.... but this time through choice, 11 years ago when she was 17 was homeless, literally sleeping in doorways

She "lived" like this for nearly 2 years, she approached 7 different councils all around the country, not 1 would help me, not even when i was hospitalised for 2 weeks... and not for the first time for kidney infections from lack of access to water.

The only ones that helped me and many others were the charities out there, that have to fund raise to keep going.

It took her several days to pluck up the courage to do this again, it was freezing cold outside, but all over the country, all over the world the homeless are going unnoticed and ignored,  Collette needed to help by doing her bit.
