Tesco Oakham is delighted to announce their annual Christmas fair, taking place today until 4 pm. The event is set to be a festive extravaganza, filled with seasonal treats, handmade crafts, and a host of activities for all ages.

This year's fair will be raising funds local charities. organisations who provide vital support to those in need within the community, and Tesco is proud to be able to contribute to their continued success.

Visitors to the fair can expect to find a wide variety of stalls, including local artisans selling handmade gifts, food producers offering festive treats, and charities raising awareness for their causes. There will also be live music throughout the day, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

"We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Christmas fair again this year," said Jen Tesco Oakham store manager. "It's a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, spread some festive cheer, and support very worthy causes."

The fair is free to attend, and all are welcome to come along and enjoy the festivities. Tesco hopes to raise a significant amount of money for the charities, and encourages everyone to get involved.

After a turbulent few years in Oakham, Strays Coffee it looks as if it has finally closed its doors for good. A fleet of removal vans was spotted outside the shop this morning, with workers dismantling the interior and loading up boxes of equipment.

The closure comes as no surprise to many locals, who have witnessed the shop's struggles first hand. Strays Coffee has been dogged by controversy since its opening, with reports of unpaid staff and questionable business practices. The company's original owner, STRAYS OF OAKHAM LIMITED, was wound up with debts of over a million pounds. 

The Oakham shop first opened in November 2019

The shop's closure in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, was attributed to high rents and rates, while the Newark, Nottinghamshire outlet was closed ahead of a move into a new premises. The rather grand Ossington Coffee Tavern, also known as the Ossington Coffee Palace.

Despite the challenges, Strays Coffee's owners had always maintained a positive outlook.

Strays coffee shop first opened in Stamford Lincolnshire, bailiffs closed that outlet, the owners told local press they had no knowledge it was going to happen and said it was a mistake that would be sorted out.

Today, the Remembrance Parade marched through Oakham Rutland in honour of all those who have served and sacrificed in the armed forces. The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Sarah Furness, took the salute as the parade marched down High Street.

The parade was made up of members of the armed forces, veterans, cadets, and local organisations. They were joined by members of the public who lined the streets to watch and pay their respects.

There was also a service of remembrance at All Saints' Church, The service was attended by the Lord Lieutenant, the Mayor of Oakham, and other dignitaries.

The Remembrance Parade is an important event in the Oakham calendar. It is a time for the community to come together and remember all those who have served and sacrificed in the armed forces.

The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland is the representative of the King in Rutland. Sarah Furness was appointed Lord Lieutenant in 2018. She is responsible for representing the King at official functions and for promoting the county of Rutland.
