It annoys me greatly that people won't stand for election here in Rutland.

Politics is broken here in Rutland.

It also annoys me that Cllr Paul Browne waffles on about protecting Oakham from development etc. 

If he was that concerned about Oakham developments why did he purchase a new property that blights Oakham South at Spinney Hill? If it bother him so much why does he not move out knock it down and invest some of his money he and has family have made over the years from selling new developments throughout Rutland and Lincolnshire. It annoys me when people just support something for votes.

He also used to run a crap firm of Solicitors. I purchased my home and used his services and over fifteen years later I am fighting the firm he sold out to complete the work his useless employee never completed. 

Moving onto Cllr Joanna Burrows who I once helped with her leaflets only for her to then tell me she did not want to be a County Councillor. Like the Rutland Conservatives the Lib dems are desperate for candidates. I wish people would stand.  Rutland County Council needs a fresh start with all new people with fresh ideas. So it is no surprise Joanna is stepping down. 

The Rutland Lib dems tell us its the independents are keeping the Conservatives in power. that could possibly be true. Unfortunately most if not all the Independents are Tories who got fed up with the local Conservatives at Rutland County Council. Others have chaired the Labour Party locally and some have been Green and even Lib dem. The biggest contribution to the Conservative control is many are elected unopposed.   

So come on all the moaners why not stand for election in May you can't make the County Council any worse than it is already.  Its time to retire the old members.

Our Conservative MP Alicia Kerns voted to fill our waterways with crap. 

Officially Anglian Water say they only pump treated sewage into Rutland Water after a storm, their figures show a different story or I have missed the Daily Storms?

The decision to close Catmose Sport Centre has been reversed.

I have now investigated this matter of using a  council email address as a contact point to canvass new members of the Lib Dem party. This is a misuse of council resources . 

The members concerned have apologised for the error and have stopped using that leaflet . 

In future they will use personal emails or a group email.

 

In their defence, the advice to councillors in the past has been vague as to which email address they should use from time to time.  

Council email addresses are to be used only for ward work and other related council business. 

I am updating the Member Code of Conduct to provide clear guidance on the issue.

I wonder why the code had not been previously updated?  

A few years ago a conduct complaint against a Conservative Councillor was upheld. 

He had also misused his .gov email address.

staff and its service its meant to provide.

Strong words from Conservative Councillor Munton.

Councillors are already thinking about losing their seats in just over eight months time and gave this as a reason to defer training until after the 2015 elections.

Lead by example Councillor, how can you be critical of a disorganised partnership, when you can't even be bothered to take up training yourselves.

No wonder our councils are so poor.

Now Microsoft has added Skype to outlook those councillor and staff who use
false names can now be identified, From my address book which contains
Councillors and staff email address's I can see four are using Skype.

One is using the name Potty White ?

Another is R Taylor (there are no councillors with that name)

his profile photo has been airbrushed
I think!

I am one of twenty six Rutland County Councillors who employ a Chief Officer to run and oversee the services we provide as a local authority. This is done with the budget we agree and within the policies we set. If I have any doubts or concerns about anything within this service provision I expect to be allowed to ask questions to satisfy myself that all is OK. There are times that things are not OK for a number of reasons, one being human error. We are all prone to that at times and when you are providing services to the public there needs to be good monitoring.

In June 2012 one of the council’s three directors was suspended for an indefinite period by the Chief Officer. For such an action to be taken with a most senior and well paid officer the reason could not have been trivial. We know whatever it was it was not criminal and one can only assume it was a very serious breach of either their employment conditions or the way service provision within his portfolio was being provided.

Without going into the directors personal details I wanted to know of the circumstances for the suspension and the tragedy that followed hours later when he took his own life. Therefore I asked for“an immediate review of the allegations against the Director of Places and the disciplinary process which was followed”. The reply I received was hostile and when I asked a supplementary question I was appalled at the booing and hissing at me that came from the Conservative majority. My questions may have been ‘difficult’ for some but needed to be asked.

The whole background this unfortunate event is being carefully put together and can be placed on this website when complete. There are other questions that have been asked on this but answers have been denied………………….so far.               Openness, Transparency and Accountability
