Oakham Town Councils tatty old flag is flying half mast outside Rutland County Library for the sad loss of
Hector Wolley who was a Oakham South West Town Councillor for 24 years until he called it a day at the age of 76 at elections held in May 2007, he has been mayor of Oakham three times – 1989-90, 1997-98 and 2006-07
He was also the President of The Rotary Club of Rutland 2004 -2005
He lived in Noel Avenue, a popular street for Councillors of Town and County also home to the Town Clerk.
