Oakham, Rutland - A burst water main has caused significant disruption on South Street in Oakham. The road is currently closed to both vehicles and pedestrians between the Mill Street Junction and the fire station.

The incident has also left many homes in the surrounding area without water. 

The water pressure has been reduced to prevent damage to the road and pavements.

Severn Trent Water is aware of the problem and is likely on its way to assess the situation and begin repairs.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area as this closure adds to the ongoing disruption caused by the Brooke Road closure.

It is not yet known when South Street will reopen, or how long it will take to restore water supplies to affected properties. Severn Trent Water is expected to provide further updates soon.
