Leicester Crime police Link to Saturday's Good Weather

Four homes and a shop were burgled in one small area of Leicester city on Saturday. Leicestershire Police is linking these to Saturday’s good weather.

With more good weather finally on the way, officers are urging householders to take sensible precautions.

Sergeant Dave Cleaver, from Spinney Hill Park local policing unit, said: “I know everyone has been looking forward to some sunshine and warmer weather this summer. Unfortunately criminals are looking at this as an opportunity to cause misery.

“Never leave accessible windows open when you are out, in the garden or asleep. This includes all ground floor windows and first floor windows where someone could climb on to something, such as a single storey extension.
“And keep your doors locked.”

The Force has been running a Summer Burglary Campaign, which includes eight short videos with crime prevention techniques:

The overnight burglaries took place in Broad Avenue (2), Ethel Road, Temple Road and Green Lane Road.

Anyone with information about these or any other crimes should contact Leicestershire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. If you see something suspicious or a crime occurring, dial 999.
You can also Register your valuables on the free property registration site www.immobilise.com. This may help prove the goods are stolen if they are recovered by the police, and increase the chances of them being returned to you.
