Cllr Joyce Lucas Oakham Town Councillor Illegal Parking

Cllr Joyce Lucas Oakham Town Councillor Illegal Parking

Why do Oakham Town Councillor think they are above the law?

Cllr Joye Lucas returns to her car parked, in a pedestrian zone on double lines and at the entrance of the junction! Just very same thing she criticises the public for doing at Town Council meeting,  I would guess she does the same at Joint Action Police Committee meetings.

Cllr Joy Lucas also serves on the local Standards Committee at Rutland County Council.

One of my followers suggested I don't like Tory People.

One of my followers suggested
I don't like Tory People.

That most certainly is not true "A lot of my friends are Tories" I just hate the nasty ones, the thugs the bigots they know who they are!

I like our MP Alan Ducan,  he appears to do nothing for Melton and Rutland, Maybe that is the role of a MP? he always says hi when he is around town. Of course he is not a friend of mine, but he is most certainly not my enemy.

I am regularly updated with his questions he puts to the commons and of course the answers, the five answers below just arrived.

'Written Answers' speaker:Alan Duncan

Written Answers — International Development: Departmental Location (19 Jul 2010)

Alan Duncan: No.

Written Answers — International Development: Departmental Official Cars (19 Jul 2010)

Alan Duncan: I refer the hon. Member to the answer provided by my hon. Friend the Member for Hemel Hempstead (Mike Penning) on 13 July 2010, Official Report, column 624W, on Departmental Official Cars.

Written Answers — International Development: Departmental Travel (19 Jul 2010)

Alan Duncan: Details of overseas travel by Ministers during May and June will be published in August on the Cabinet Office website. The Department for International Development (DFID) is unable to provide details of ministerial travel in the UK without incurring disproportionate cost. All travel is undertaken in accordance with the Ministerial Code.

Written Answers — International Development: Yemen (19 Jul 2010)

Alan Duncan: The Department for International Development (DFID) is committed to supporting the Government of Yemen address its development challenges. The security situation in Yemen means we cannot discuss ministerial travel plans.

Written Answers — International Development: Yemen: Overseas Aid (19 Jul 2010)

Alan Duncan: I refer the hon. Member to the answer provided on 8 July 2010, Official Report, column 421W, on Yemen: Overseas Aid.

Rutland County Council aren't responding quickly enough to public complaints.

Escut RutlandImage via Wikipedia
The number of complaints about Rutland County Council's has reduced.

"I  say it is not due to improvements more residents apathy. What's the point of complaining when nothing changes. Planning Department is a prime example of very poor service.

Rutland County Council aren't responding quickly enough to public complaints.

That's according to the Local Government Ombudsman's Annual Review which considers complaints about authorities.

The target time for local authorities to respond is 28 days and Rutland's average is 86 days

However complaints about the authority were down from eight to six over the past year.

Latest Memorial Brochure Recieved

The police say don't get upset well I don't!

I am a little concerned as to why someone
requests these brochures for me.

I must be getting a little tasteless
because I can't make up my mind
do I prefer the bear or the cute little elephant?

The interesting thing about this company is they
only advertise in the national press.

When  I spoke to them I forgot to ask
the paper title.  If you can remember wich
paper you saw the advert in please let me know
it will help me to understand your mental state.

Was it the Daily Star,  Sun? I know it was a man
the company assures me it does not advertise
in the local press, drat why did I not ask them.

Oakham Town Council Spending Your Money

All Saints Church, Oakham.Image via Wikipedia
As a Town Councillor I found Oakham Town Council awarded Grants of £12,000.00  to local groups, it supported.

it approved and accepted no other applications. Money  has been paid out with no conditions attached.  Tax payers money just thrown to the wind.

A Town Council as a body should not affiliate to any political party or religion therefore should not provide grant aid to support any religious group or activity in the town. By law the Town Council cannot offer financial assistance to any political party. An award of a grant must give direct benefit to all or some of the inhabitants, and the size of the grant should be commensurate with the benefit delivered.

The grant given to The Oakham Festival is very large and the benefit delivered to local people was very small. One facebook user said it was like listening to strangled cats! The festival charges and could be seen as a commercial venture. The relationship between the council and  the Festival Committee should also be questioned.

I complained as a councillor because the churches together group used council electricity  the Rules clearly state the reason the why Oakham Town Council should not give free electricity to the churches event. I am sure when the bill arrives it will be much bigger than expected a lot of equipment was used.

It should also stop giving the tax payers money to All Saints Church Oakham for the upkeep of its clock. The Clock belongs to the Church of England.

This town council must stop handing out tax payers money to itself and friends.

Can the town council show how the taxpayers money given to The Oakham carnival Committee, Oakham in Bloom and Oakham Festival Committee was spent? No they cant!

The Town Council Complained I published details of the town clerks pay. Strange as it is public knowledge. The accounts are now published, Salaries rise further this year as everyone else is expected to tighten their belts the Clerks pay rose considerable and now the Clerk has a new assistant who is paid a lot less, When I was a councillor I was not shown the Clerks contract, I am led to believe his contract commands a annual increase regardless of his performance.

Next year he will have reached the top scale for Town Clerks what happens after that?

Even less bands in the park next year  to  pay for the increase?

Cllr Tor Clark Oakham Town Council

Corporate logo of De Montfort University (213x...Image via Wikipedia

Ex-editor returns to old patch as councillor
by Helen Lambourne
A former weekly newspaper editor found himself answering the questions after becoming a councillor for the area he used to cover.
Tor Clark, left, one-time editor of the Rutland and Stamford Mercury, was interviewed by his old paper after taking a seat on Oakham Town Council.
The journalism lecturer is also programme leader of the BA Hons Journalism course at De Montfort University's Leicester Centre for Journalism and hopes his inside knowledge of public affairs will benefit his students.
Tor was co-opted to the seat by other town councillors after becoming involved in local affairs since leaving the paper, as a parent governor at his daughters' school.

I met Mr Tor Clerk and sat through his interview, nice confident man.

I have one question, why not sit in the public seats and observe?

A town councillor is meant to serve the public who reside in Oakham. Not once does Mr Tor Clark mention this.

He only goal and aim from reading this article is to glean information for the benefit of his Leicester students.

I am sorry to say this only adds to this already disfunctional council.

Judge Rejects Delay in US Gay Teen Murder Trial

Headshot of Lawrence "Larry" Fobes K...Image via Wikipedia
A judge overseeing the trial of a teen accused of killing a classmate because he was gay has rejected defense lawyers’ appeal for more time to prepare their case. Ventura County Superior Court Judge Charles Campbell surprised many observers Wednesday by denying the request for more time submitted by lawyers for Brandon McInerney, 16. McInerney, who is being tried as an adult, faces life in prison if convicted of the 2008 murder of 15-year-old Larry King. His attorneys had sought a delay of several months to allow them to finish interviewing witnesses. They argued that rejecting the delay would deny McInerney a fair trial.

Argentina Legalizes Gay Marriage

Argentina has legalised same-sex marriage, becoming the first country in Latin America to give gays and lesbians all the same legal rights of married heterosexual couples. The vote by the country’s Senate came down to 33 in favour, 27 against and three abstentions. Since the lower house already approved it, and President Cristina Fernandez is a strong supporter, it now becomes law. The vote came after a marathon debate and marches by supporters and opponents that drew thousands of people.

PLANNING APPLICATION

To consider the following application and to decide on any comments

(i) PTA/2010/0636/APB Mr Brian Lissaman

Removal of limb from 1 No. Hornbeam tree

54 Springfield Way

Oakham Town Council Found this planning application so funny, this clearly showed the contempt for the people they are meant to serve.

It also backs up the Standards Committee description of this Council.

The Chairman Cllr Sharon Spencer should be ashamed of what the public witnessed at the last meeting.

If Mr Lissaman wishes to appeal against the councils rejection I would be happy to assist.

Oakham Town Council Meeting

This Wednesday 21st July 2010
Oakham Town Council
meet at 7.00pm

planning meeting first then parks

I wonder which applicant will be laughed at this weeks meeting.

I and friends will be attending to witness the contempt shown
towards the public by this council.

I will be reporting on both meetings.

Special note to the note to the person who keeps calling memorial makers on my behalf some companies record calls and can even provide call logs, so stop being silly.

The owner of one company can remember your telephone call very well and is happy to assist in tracing you.

They say: he seemed quite chatty so reasonably young to middle age.

They also had a nice chat about their link to Ashwell and Langham.

Now take this very public warning, I don't want to see anyone in court but if it brings some peace into my life I will.

Stop now or you will be caught, it is clear you need help. Who in their right mind calls a funeral director to discuss a fictional death?

Maybe you could call me to explain? you have my number you gave it to them this week.

Police News

.

A man who handed his identity to police on a plate by leaving his passport behind after trying to use a ‘cloned’ credit card has been given a 16-week suspended sentence and been banned from entering the City of Westminster for 12 months.

Foysol Ahmed, 21, of McKenzie Road, Islington, was sentenced on Tuesday 15 June, after earlier pleading guilty to fraud by misrepresentation. Ahmed also pleaded guilty to failing to fulfil a community order requirement from a previous conviction.

Detective Sergeant Neil Black, of BTP’s High Tech Crime Unit, said the incident occurred at 10.30pm on Thursday 19 November last year:

“Ahmed gave his passport over as proof of ID when trying to buy two 7-day bus passes with the fraudulent credit card at Angel Tube station.

“However, when the ticket seller became suspicious, Ahmed fled the station, leaving his passport behind.”

BTP attended the station and used the passport to trace Ahmed before arresting him.

The card Ahmed had tried to use had been encoded with details stolen from an unsuspecting credit card holder.

“It gives an investigation a real boost when a significant piece of the puzzle is already in place,” added DS Black.

“By leaving his passport behind, Ahmed ensured it was only a matter of time before we caught up with him.

“We also showed him CCTV evidence of him fleeing the booking hall at the time of the offence leaving him no option but to plead guilty.”

A Swiss scheme to use a guardian angel to urge motorists to slow down is proving such a success that it may be extended.

Police in the state of Fribourg employed a winged man dressed in white to stand at the roadside to remind drivers to go slow.

The professional actor waves and flaps his wings at motorists travelling too fast as part of the safe-driving campaign.

He is the real-life version of an angel that features in the initiative's TV commercials who is hit by a young motorist as he hurriedly drives out of his garage.

"The idea is to provide a sort of concrete protection, to have a real angel telling drivers to be responsible," said police spokesman Benoit Dumas.

"To have a physical presence like that makes the message more visible, and it's out of the ordinary."

The actor is employed 20 hours per week to 'appear' in different parts of the 670-square-mile region of western Switzerland.

"The initiative will go on until at least end of October, but it could be prolonged. After all, you know, angels are eternal," Dumas said.

Drivers who spot the angel are encouraged to e-mail the police - they will then be entered into a lottery for a driving lesson.

Two teenage 'entrepreneurs' have been arrested for selling burgers and beer - with free porn DVDs - from a caravan near clubs and bars.

They allegedly screened porn movies onto a nearby wall to attract custom to their unlicensed venture in Driffield, East Yorkshire.

The pair even had a Facebook page - Driffield Porn Burger Caravan Lads for Junior Apprentice 2011 - set up in their 'honour'.

Customers were allegedly given a free porn DVD if they spent more than £5 on food and drink, reports the Driffield Times.

But the offer was spotted by outraged locals who alerted police and two men were arrested following an undercover operation.

Police also seized their caravan which was parked on an access road in the centre of the market town, close to clubs and bars.

Sgt David Jenkins said: "We received complaints that free porn DVDs were being offered to everyone who spent £5 or more on beer and burgers.

"Undercover officers made test purchases and found this to be true before Saturday night's operation when the caravan was seized.

"It was inevitable that we would have to take some action along with our colleagues from licensing, the food standards agency and trading standards.

"Enquiries are ongoing and there are decisions to be made as to the fate of the van and the entrepreneurs."

A 74-year-old woman has been arrested by US police in their search for a vandal who has been pouring condiments into a drop box at a local library.

Police say Joy Cassidy is suspected of causing thousands of dollars in damage to library books with liquids including ketchup, corn syrup and mayonnaise.

She was caught after having just allegedly dropped an open jar of mayonnaise into the drop box outside Ada County Library in Boise, reports the Idaho Statesman.

Police say 10 similar acts of vandalism have been committed at the library in little more than a yea
Officers had staked out the library car park, passing by the area regularly, and pulled over a car matching the description of a suspicious vehicle that seemed to be in the area every time vandalism has occurred.

Boise police spokesman Chuck McClure said officers pulled the vehicle over and talked with the driver, later identified as Ms Cassidy.

When police took her into custody, they found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat of her car.

McClure said police have not yet determined a motive for the vandalism. Ms Cassidy has been charged with injury to property and carrying a concealed weapon.

An Iowa man ended up in jail after he was pulled over for driving on a motorway at night with no lights - on a lawn mower.

Robert Grimstad, 38, was allegedly driving all over Highway 17, near Des Moines, when he was stopped by sheriff's deputies.

He told police officers that he was out on his six-speed lawn mower picking up cans out of community spirit.

But officers smelt alcohol on his breath, gave him a blood test and charged him with drink driving, reports the Des Moines Register.

Boone County Sheriff Ron Fehr says it's illegal in Iowa to drive any kind of motor vehicle anywhere in Iowa while drunk.

Sheriff Fehr was unable to confirm how fast Grimstad was going: "I don't know," he said. "How fast can a lawn mower go?"
