Oakham in Bloom battle on

Oakham in Bloom battle on:

I admire the people who support Oakham in Bloom who work so hard to make our town look so good in the summer. despite repeated attempts my a few mindless idiots to spoil that effort, they keep picking up the mess and replanting until the next late night drunk makes there way home.

Oakham in Blooms new super size litter bins

Oakham in Bloom have replaced small barrels around the town with these very large ugly pots. Sadly the barrels were frequently used to deposit beer cans and wine bottles or tipped over at weekends by people drinking and waiting to withdraw more funds from Nat West Bank Cashpoint. I can see these new pots becoming very large litter bins, can banks or bottle banks. It is a pity a few people don't appreciate the unpaid work of Oakham in Bloom.

Snow Drops at Farm near Catmose

Did you know that soldiers were so enchanted by snowdrops that they brought them back from the Crimean War battlefields to plant in their gardens

Galanthus (Snowdrop; Greek gála "milk", ánthos "flower")

Crocus (plural: crocuses, croci)

 Spring Sunshine

While male blackbirds live up to their name, confusingly, females are actually brown, often with spots and streaks on their breasts.
