Furleys, 51 High Street, Oakham, Rutland, Closed Down

Furleys, 51 High Street, Oakham, Rutland, Closed Down

Furleys closes its largest retail premises 51 High Street Oakham, unlike its Burley Road premises the retailer
has found a new trader for the above premises  very quickly. So it won't turns happy like the Limes next door the former Royal British Legion Club.

It will be interesting to see who has taken on the very large double fronted three storey store.

I am told before Furleys moved into this property this home for a Hardware Store.

Toots Sweets, Northgate, Oakham, Closed Down

Toots Sweets closed down after only four and a half years. Its only a rumour at the moment, it looks like another three high street stores will be closing their doors later this month. A very difficult a worrying time for traders.
This morning I was asked what is the town council doing. My response is we can't do anything we can ask landlords to keep empty premises up to a standard and yes they can ignore us. If we end up with no shops or pub we could run one, but I rather think the council will leave that to Tesco, Waitrose or Sainsbury.
