At first I took little notice of this new follower as I believed them to be the former Rutland Conservative Councillor, turned Independent.

"My family comes from Leicester and Nottingham. We lived at Hoby for many years from where I went to Oakham School and Leicester Polytechnic before joining the family business, for whom I ran a textile factory in Oakham. Still in the textile trade I had my own business in Lutterworth for several years, before moving to Lincoln to set up a conference and wedding venue. Whilst in Lincolnshire I first became a councillor in North Kesteven DC in 2004 where I served on the Executive as portfolio holder for Housing and Development.
Moving to Leicestershire to retire in 2006 I was elected to Harborough DC in 2008 and became Deputy Leader then Leader in 2009, via the Waste and Environment Portfolio.
As Leader now, I also hold the Business Portfolio and Change Management Interests as well as the greater issues of Leading Harborough through the difficulties of the current budget constraints, Localism, and Coalition legislation.
At 67 years of age life is exciting and varied. I have a very understanding wife of 46 years, Elaine, three grown-up children and 3 grandchildren. Whenever possible I play golf very badly, and watch as much cricket, tennis and rugby as am allowed." (Councillor Michael Rook)
