Oakham Town Carol Concert

Oakham Town Carol Concert

Just over 100 adults attended Oakham Town Councils Carol Concert along with the Children of Oakham Church of England Primary School.

A few local dignitaries attended, I spotted Mrs Clifton from the Conservative Association looking smart in her bright pink jacket, I always joke with her, she should really stick to blue. If she did it might make her look cold and I prefer the warm smiling Mrs Clifton.

Inspector J Monks in smart uniform spoke twice and wished me a Happy Christmas.

Mr Begy Leader of Rutland County Council was present and one of my ward Councillors Mr Plews.

It was good to see former Mayor Jan Fillingham well enough to attend and warmly greeted with a big kiss by the Town Clerk Richard White.

We were all welcomed by the Town Mayor Cllr Sharon Spencer.

The public sang Ding Dong Merrily on High, The first reading was read by Cllr Alf Dewis Questions on Christmas Eve by Wes Magee (could not hear)

Then the public sung In The Bleak Midwinter.

This was followed by a reading from Cllr Joyce Lucas read well and entitled Winters Day by Gareth Owen. (pleased she moved the microphone so we could hear)
On completion Cllr Lucas asked us to raise the roof of the Church and sing Good King Wenceslas.
This was followed by a short play read by Cllr Sharon Spencer and her young son.

Th e Children of Oakham Church of England School assembled to sing proud parents stretched to wave to their little ones.

They sung Calypso Carol.

This was followed by a short play, Jesus' Christmas party by Nicholas Allan this included four Carols sung by the public.

The final reading was a cheerful reading, read by the ever cheerful Cllr Lorna Grey, how does she keep smiling so much? Christmas Thank You's by Mick Gower.
The last carol sung was Once in Royal David's City.

The Mayor said Thank you and asked the children to sing her favourite carol again, Away in a Manger.
Closing Prayers and Blessing by Rev Lee...

After the carol concert Councillor Joyce Lucas invites Councillor Roger Begy for tea and a mince pie.

Councillor Maureen Dodds rushes past to help serve the tea and mince pies.

An enjoyable evening and a nice cup of Tea and Two! mince pies for my dinner.

I also met new Councillor Mr Lowe seemed nice.

The carols sung by children from Oakham Church of England Primary School.

I would have like to have photographed the Civic Event but you will have to make do with a little look back to last Christmas.
Martin
I have just spoken to the Chairman about you taking pictures tonight.
Regretfully, I have to inform you that you do not have permission to take any photographs of tonight's concert.
You stated to me earlier that you would respect such a decision on the matter and I trust that you will keep to that.

It is with regret the information relating to this event has been  removed, due to the actions of The Rutland Committee of the NSPCC.

I can not afford to  attend this lavis event, so i give free publicity and links to
the NSPCC. The google stats show hundreds of people visit this post each year.
Today I visited my parish church to photograph
the christmas decorations sponsored by Gates Garden Centre.
The organisers asked the Church Warden to kick me out of the Church.
I have written to the NSPCC and sponsors to express my disgust. The behaviour of these Rutland Do Gooders is becoming unacceptable.
I would love to put some laxative in their mulled wine so they can produce a little more of what they are!

All Saints Church Oakham icons

This blog post is especially for the person who leaves the rude comments on my blog.
.
My experience of the church is it provides comfort for a lot of people with mental illness.

When one man would often called into the church and look at the mother and child statue, this all ended when the police took him away because he attempted to set fire to it because God told him too!

I hope the photographs helps you and please do set fire to your computer.

All Saints Church Oakham Oakham Pest Control Doves of Peace

All Saints Church Oakham Oakham Pest Control Doves of Peace

The Church has decided the  White Doves flying around the Church are a pest.

A PCC meeting in September approved the following.

The Doves set up home in the cavity of the stone wall  of the church porch.

Recently the entrance to the Doves home has been sealed with dry foam. How humane??

Not the best photo but it shows the dry foam used to trap the Doves

surely  the church was not granted a faculty so quickly to do this?

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.

If your thinking of buying
some Doves to release
at your church wedding
please think carefully

All Saints Church Yard Bollards

All Saints Church Yard Bollards

After three years of thinking Oakham Town Council has decide to purchase and install bollards at the entrance to All Saints Church yard.

This good news as it will prevent people parking on the graves.

Some of the grave stones have been damaged.

Parking cars on grass is not always good in an old town like ours. Burley Road looks a mess and suffered a fractured gas main earlier this year and only this week a leaking water pipe on the corner of Woodland Way has been found.

Rev Lee Francis-Dehqani, Vicars mother-in-law stabbed in vicarage kitchen

Rev Lee Francis-Dehqani, Vicars mother-in-law stabbed in vicarage kitchen

Rev Lee Francis-Dehqani, informs us this morning on Rutland Radio Reflection thankfully it was not
as sinister as it sounds.

It was all a bit of a dogs dinner  mother-in-law was trying to stop the dog from getting into the dishwasher for a few extra scraps. Whilst attempting to retrieve the dog she was stabbed by a fork.

Paramedics were called as the fork was embedded in her finger. She was taken to hospital and all is now well.

Oakham Action multum in parvo Jeakins Weir Development Uppingham Road Oakham Rutland

115 eco-home plan for south of Oakham homes could be built alongside one of the most scenic routes into Oakham.

Builders Jeakins Weir has prepared plans to build 115 houses along the western side of Uppingham Road, which leads into the town from the A6003.
The land was marked as part of Rutland County Council's 20-year vision, published summer 2008.
The homes may be green but oncerns have been raised about their potential impact on one of Oakham's most attractive areas.
County councillor Gene Plews (Con), who represents the south east ward, said to the Rutland Times  "I'm concerned about any development in Oakham south east but this is one of the most attractive routes into the town.
"I'm worried about the visual impact this would have on the area and I would encourage any residents with concerns about the plans to contact me."

gplews@rutland.gov.uk
Also in the same issue of the Rutland Times
Alistair Weir, managing director of Jeakins Weir, said: "Rutlanders are environmentalists at heart. Over recent years people have been asking us for environmentally friendly designs and energy-saving features in our developments."

A website has been launched
