Barleythorpe Field, Oakham Town Council, Rutland County Council, Bellway Homes, Tresham College

Barleythorpe Field,  Oakham Town Council, Rutland County Council,
Bellway Homes, Tresham College

Oakham Town Council will proudly tell you that they have saved
this tiny piece of open green field for the resident of Oakham.

That is total rubbish, they have had the tiny portion of the field
dumped on them courtesy of Rutland County Council and
Tresham College because Rutland County Council don't want to
maintain it. Oakham Town Council is leasing it from Tresham and
will be responsible for its up keep.

When I was last on Oakham Town Council I supported local
residents who wanted to keep the last open green field here
in Oakham. I asked Oakham Town Council to support a bid
to obtain a grant to buy the entire field. They all voted to refuse
the application.

I then learnt the reason why, Rutland County Council wanted to
sell the Old Parks School site and Bellway Homes would only
buy it if they could also obtain the field owned by Tresham College
purchased some year ago from the public for peanuts.

Bellway Homes, Huntsman Drive, Oakham, Rutland

Its a little sad to see this sign go up. I don't mind the old school site being turned
into a mini housing estate. I hope it brings many years of problems to the homophobic
vile town councillor who lives just past the tree shown.

I understand a member of the wrote to Cllr Charles Haworth and asked
him if he has received any payment of promises from Bellway Homes.
As normal the Councillor who does not think any of the principals of
public life apply to him refused to answer their letter and further questions
I wonder why?

What is sad is this sign marks the boundary of the site which now includes
over half of one of Oakham's last green open spaces. The the town council
is leasing a small strip from Tresham College. Tresham have
profited greatly from the sale of land they purchased some years ago for
peanuts.

Bellway Homes, Former Parks School Land off Barleythorpe Road, Application to build 61 homes, 18 Car Parking Spaces

Bellway Homes, Former Parks School Land off Barleythorpe Road, Application to build 61 homes
At Wednesday's Town Council meeting the council made no recommendations for or against the applications from Bellway Homes.

It never ceases to amaze me how this council continually fails to involve themselves in major applications that effect our town, what is the point of town council that has no teeth?

Although when they have got involved in the past history has shown them to look very stupid.

Just Like the time they said the agreed with Tesco's application to extend their car park
but refused their application to demolish a building in its way.
