Do you want to be a Oakham Town Councillor? Election May 2011

Do you want to be a Oakham Town Councillor?

Terms: do as your told, don't speak out of turn, be prepared to bully others or be bullied if you don't agree to those requirements.

It could be better if Tax Payers got together and take over and dissolve the council, they did it Letchworth Garden Why not here?

Oakham Town Council provide little or no services at a very high cost.

If the maintenance costs were included in Rutland County Councils contracts it would mean smaller bills for tax payers.

60% plus of the Council precept is spent on admin. and staff costs.

Ex Oakham Town Councillor Alan Walters... he wont because he belonged to the wrong party - labour!

Resigned Oakham Town Councillor Alan Walter,
speaking at the Co-op Oakham today
Said he was tempted to stand in Rutland County Council Elections on May 5th
but he wont because he belonged to the wrong party - labour!

I always wondered why we have no Labour Councillors. They give up before they even try.

At least a few Lib / Dems and Independents give it a go.....

Will you stand in elections? Rutland County Council May 2011

Will you stand in elections?

An open evening is being held for anyone interested in standing for election to Rutland County Council.

Elections are due to held in May with 26 seats set to be contested.

An open evening will be held on Monday, January 31,

between 6pm and 8pm at the council offices in Catmose, Oakham.

It will give an overview of what being a councillor involves and there will be an opportunity to speak to current councillors about the role.

For more details telephone 01572 722577.

If you are going to vote remember the current leader said the Council is non political!
So why is there so many Conservatives and at the last Election why did only Conservatives knock at my door asking me to vote for the two Tory Candidates?

No other party bothered there was one other choice because I heard nothing from the independent, I asked locally and was old he was a loony. I wonder if that is why the Conservatives won.
