Oakham West End Disgrace! ?

Rutland County Councillors often refer to this end of town as a disgrace
Last night a Oakham Town Councillor also expressed this view

the only disgrace I can see is the price of the petrol

Is it a disgrace the printers was not open today?

It can not be Dr China they have long since removed
window notices claiming to cure erectile dysfunction
and premature ejaculation

The White Lion
or
The Baptist Church?

?

?

?

I am told Rutland County Council
has spent £50,000 on a report
on how to improve this end of town

I say this Oakham leave it as it is!

I find this is a big disgrace

Another Group or Committee for Rutland

Rutland County CouncilImage by diamond geezer via Flickr
This week local business group Oakham Chamber of Trade suggested it should merge with Oakham Town Partnership, because of low membership.

How many more groups or committees does Rutland need?

Now they want to set up a group described as informal, to bash the traders at the West End of Oakham Town Centre.

Traders up the other end of town don't like how the west end looks . So today I took a look at the other end of Town and

concentrated on Mill Street . Swans owned by Cllr Peter Jones has a mix of signage. The street looks tidy, lots of high class outlets, another soon to open offering free canapes on the opening day.

Cllr Peter Jones was disappointed only 25 traders turned up to a meeting at Oakham Castle last week.

This meeting was organised originally as a public meeting and at the last minute the press announced online it was closed to the public.

Would it not be good to involve the residents of Oakham before any changes were made afterall they are the customers.

I feel this is an exercise once again for Rutland County Council to dictate what it wants for Oakham, not what the resident or traders require.

Also if you are a hard working independent trader the last thing you would want to do after a hard days work is sit and listen  to a Councillor telling you, your shop is looking shabby.
