Rutland County Council say Oakham Fire Station is Safe Regional Fire Control Centre May still go Ahead

Rutland County Council say Oakham Fire Station is Safe

Mr Roger B Begy (Conservative) - GREETHAM WARD  (Leader of the Council) asked if Oakham Fire Station would remain open.
Mr Kenneth A Bool (Conservative) - UPPINGHAM WARD (Vice-Chairman of the Council) reported the Fire Authority has said Oakham and Uppingham Fire stations are safe. There is a strong possibility of future reinvestment into Oakham Fire Station.

He also said the previous government had planned 8 regional control centres. The cost of this had proved to costly so most had been scrapped.

The planned new control centre to include Rutland may still go ahead although it is likely Northamptonshire Council wont be included as it seems they are opting for partnership with Milton Keynes

Northamptonshire Visitors to Oakham Rutland, were disappointed

Northamptonshire Visitors to Oakham Rutland, were disappointed to find things closed due to Rutland County Council Cuts

After a trek from the Castle they found the Museum is also Closed on Monday's

I advised them Wednesday is a good day to visit as everything is open and its Market Day.

If the Council is going to close these places on Monday to save cash, could they consider turning of the outside lights during the day! The saving could pay for the part time librarian they asking the Town Council to fund.

Corby Northamptonshire, I like this huge building the colour of the exterior almost makes it invisible. The building is built on the former steel works Stewarts & Lloyds this was a steel tube manufacturer with its headquarters based at Corby, Northamptonshire, England. The company was created in 1903 by the amalgamation of two of the largest iron and steel makers in Britain A. & J. Stewart & Menzies Ltd, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland and Lloyd & Lloyd Ltd, Birmingham, England.

There are two steel sculpture to remind people this was the former location of the steel works.

Kirby Hall One of England's greatest Elizabethan houses English Heritage

English Heritage
Kirby Hall

Kirby Hall is an Elizabethan country house, located near Gretton, Northamptonshire, England. (Nearest town being Corby). Construction on the building began in 1570 based on the designs in French architectural pattern books and expanded in the classical style over the course of the decades. The house is now in a semi-ruined state with many parts roof-less. The building and gardens are owned by The Earl of Winchilsea, and managed by English Heritage.

Kirby Hall has been used as a filming location for Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park and A Christmas Carol for Ealing Studios in 1999, and Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story in 2005.

Kirby Hall is a fine Elizabethan and 17th century houses earlier owned by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I.

The  mansion is partly roofless, the walls show the rich decoration that proclaims that its successive owners were always in the forefront of new ideas about architecture and design. The Great Hall and state rooms remain intact, refitted and redecorated to authentic 17th and 18th century specifications.

It has recently restored  gardens with  elaborate ‘cutwork’ design complete with statues and urns.

A wonderful day out the house is fab and the garden on a sunny day super.

People know I complain, some may not know I also compliment, when I visited I found the staff so friendly and enjoyed the day, when I returned home I wrote and thanked the owner. To my surprise I received a post card thanking me for visiting.

Rutlands Thanksgiving Day

Today was thanks giving for Rutland.

VIP's from across the boarder visited from as far Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire. I can say boarder because the parish priest welcomed them all in that way.

There were some people from Rutland County Council.

No one from Oakham Town Council.

Even though a representative should have been part the procession from the castle.

A church service was held at All Saints Church Oakham,
The sermon seemed to be a Greek and Latin lesson about love and sex.

After the church service the tax payer treated the elite to afternoon tea in the Council Chamber at Rutland County Council.

I was invited into the kitchen and had a chat with the very friendly catering staff.

No photographs please Martin I am a Rutland County Councillor. We don't like you taking our photographs (Cllr V is a very nice man)

Now this is really where freedom of speech is controlled in our county
The lady above is Helen Briggs The paid big boss at Rutland County Council, she is so good, she has saved the county millions of pounds by contracting out nearly every service, so much saving this year we became the most expensive county in the country to live in. Council Tax is the highest in the land.

The lady above is super she is the Mayor of Melton, many Rutland folk look down on Melton folk but if we had a few more people like her in our county life would be so much better for many.
I wonder where Melton Find their Mayors I have not met on horrible one in the last five years, I have lived in the part of England.

Above is Mr, Mrs, Weir they are very nice and important people in Rutland. Mr Weir owns big chunks of Rutland and a lot more. www.jeakinsweir.co.uk
