Oakham Town Council Planning, parking

This week I sat through one of the longest planning meetings I have aver attended.

A lot of the time was taken up by most likely one of the worst documents ever sent down for the council to consider, from Rutland County Council.

It was very clear to me this document was produced to support the well off residents of Oakham and not to address real parking issues and at the same time increase parking revenue for the bankrupt council.

If the document was to improve parking issues for all residents, why was none of the real  issues included? like Kings Road to name one street.

All I could see was very smart estates and convenience for the well off who drive there 4x4 to the Post Office and SAPS.

We were asked to consider approving single yellow lines all over the smart estates no details were given for restrictions, these can vary from line to line. It was interesting to note some near Rutland County Councillors homes.

If you drive a smart car in Rutland you can park anywhere and nothing is done. Residents along Burly Road often complain at the state of the grass verges outside  their homes, although one or two are guilty of this most of the damage is caused by selfish Oakham School parents parking.

Oakham School has a event today, here is a common example of the illegal parking that spoils this area of our town.

Rutland County Council also needs to read the highway code

it is my understanding you don't park within 200 metres

of a road junction. So why are they proposing to place 

two parking bays here? so customers can stop and buy

there pet food at SAPS

most Councillors at Oakham Town Council

know SAPS has a free customer car park at the rear.

I suggest it is only because 4x4 drivers who are so lazy have complained

about receiving a tickets. These are probably the same people Cllr Joyce Lucas moans

about for taking there dogs to the children's play areas and letting them shit every where.

I think this should stop, but Cllr Lucas blames all responsible dog owners.

Not all dog owners are responsible, Cllr Haworth is often seen walking his dogs

in what is meant to be a dog free zone behind his house. Before he complains I have a photo to prove it.

 

Proposed location for two short term parking bays

Rutland County Council is proposing two short term parking bays

outside the post office, an area clearly marked as

a pedestrian only zone and often abused by those with nice cars.

At the same meeting visitors residents parking permits were considered,

this was not seen as good because of risk of abuse.

The current resident scheme is abused people who dont need permits apply,

like Cllr Fillingham who uses one for free parking in town

I am told she is not doing anything wrong, so I suggest all residents apply now

so they can enjoy free parking in town whilst shopping

Dear Cllr Woodcock



You asked Martin Brookes if I would write you a letter regarding what I said at the Parks and Recreation Council meeting on Wednesday of this week. I can confirm that I asked the following question:



'I have been told in the strictest confidence that Cllr Joyce Lucas told a member of the public that Cllr Brookes was a paedophile at the opening of Royce's recreation ground. I hope this is not true?'



I can also confirm that the member of the public who told me this was able to confirm her allegation to Martin Brookes.



Cllr Brookes has repeatedly complained to the police about the victimisation, homophobia and bullying he has received at the hands of Councillors, their associates and friends and ex Councillors. Absolutely nothing whatever has been done.



Indeed I complained about offensive material published using my name on a Flickr’ account – two bare men’s behinds in full colour and some rather insulting text aimed at Martin Brookes. The police chose not to let me know who had published this material because it was not offensive enough to investigate. It did seem to be someone with connections to the local Council, yet the police were unwilling to ascertain who the offender was. However, when I wrote a letter to Councillors on the back of a photocopy of this material and Martin Brookes posted my letter in a Council notice board, he was arrested for publishing offensive material. I now begin to wonder whether my confidence in the police force has been dented due to the fact that Councillors Lucas, Haworth and Dewis sit on the Police Joint Action Group and so protect those who indulge in this sort of behaviour. I enclose a copy of that material and shall not post this letter because I believe that using the Royal Mail to let you have a copy could result in my prosecution. However no one will ever be prosecuted for posting this on the internet. Do you now detect a smidgeon of double standards?



I refer you to the posting on the Rutland Chat Forum and repeated endlessly by 'Dotty':

Are these allegations of paedophilia designed to ensure that Martin Brookes is killed? Might that be an offence of conspiracy to kill? I rather think it might.



I would also ask what has been done about Cllr Alf Dewis’ wholly unacceptable suggestion that membership of the Police Joint Action Group is ‘by invitation only.’



The Council should further consider the following false allegations against Councillor Brookes and take immediate steps to stop this destructive and potentially dangerous campaign of misinformation. People have been killed for being suspected paedophiles and I can absolutely assure you that, having taught paedophiles, Martin Brookes shows absolutely no signs of being a potential sexual offender.

How can it be right that an Oakham Town Councillor puts on display pornographic images in an official Oakham Town Council notice board, is subsequently arrested and is then seen taking photographs at Royce Playing fields where there are children present when the new equipment was officially opened. When Martin Brookes complained about Jim Harrison some time ago he received an apology and was persuaded to withdraw his complaint to the Standards Committee. Since then ex Cllr Harrison ’s blog has become infinitely worse and the false allegations that Martin Brookes is not fit to be around children is extremely dangerous. Martin Brookes does not take pictures of children when out photographing and he does not try to approach children in any way. However these false and criminal allegations are gaining currency.



I further refer you to boys riding past on the bicycles shouting 'paedo' at Martin Brookes - which I have witnessed. Where are these children getting their information?



I repeat my question at the Council meeting on 23rd June 2010.

All Councillor Lucas needs to do is to write me a letter saying she never said any such thing and condemning those who have made these allegations. I will then publish her denial on my blog.

To all who wish to know the real reason why I resigned as an Oakham Town Councillor see the original letter sent to the Chair printed below





Dear Chair



On Wednesday 17th February 2010 a new councillor will be sitting in the Council Chamber. Allegedly, this new councillor has made repeated personal attacks on various members of this council including myself either verbally or on his web based sites. You will know about this more than any of us as you have had to put up with alleged constant harrassment from this man to the point it made you ill and threatened to ruin what should have been one of the highlights of you being an Oakham Town Councillor.



He has also allegedly attacked the credibility of the Oakham Town Council on numerous occasions and made accusations that the Oakham Town Council was conspiring against him. Similarly, he has allegedly done the same to RCC and also made personal attacks on some members of that council as well.



I fail to understand why a man who appears to hate the Oakham Town Council and some of its members so much would want to be a member of that council.



I am unable to sit around a table with this man and discuss policy matters and other matters appertaining to the town and so on a matter of principle feel that the only course of action open to me is to regrettfully resign my post as an Oakham Town Councillor.

Oakham Town Council Obstruction

The following is posted for any of those who may have any doubt my work as a councillor is obstructed.

But after a lot of complain there are small improvement, it also helps members of the public now attend meetings and are willing to write statements.

The following was accepted at the meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee of Oakham Town Council held on Wednesday 23rd June 2010

68/10 (Appendix A)

Cllr Brookes asked that the minutes included the fact that he made numerous attempts to ask that it be proposed and seconded that a decision had been taken outside of the meeting with relation item 61/10 (i)  in the draft minutes* (*that should read during the meeting I had asked and not been allowed to make the proposal) but this had not been allowed by the Chairman of the meeting (Cllr Charles Haworth)  This was agreed and it was proposed by Cllr Dewis (a surprise change) seconded by Cllr Walters and agreed  5 votes for and 3 abstentions (3 abstentions made by those not present at the previous meeting) that the amended minutes be approved as a true record of that meeting and be signed by the chairman.
The minutes were to be amended accordingly and the agreed changed initialled by the chairman.

Cllr Haworth was reported to standards for his bullying conduct.

Next weeks council meeting will also require emended minutes.

The following is not a true record of event although there is a admission of some delay, I suggest there was some considerable delay and the events that took place were illegal.

Cllr Woodcock took the chair

It was proposed by Cllr Brookes, that:

"under section 1(2) of the public bodies (admissions to meetings) Act 1960 and in accordance with standing order 61 it is proposed that in view of the confidential nature of the business about to be transacted, it is advisable in the public interest that the public and press be temporarily excluded and they were asked to withdraw.

After some delay, and prior to the Chairman moving onto the next item of business, this proposal was seconded by Cllr Walters and agreed 6 votes for and 1 abstention.

The above is not a true record of events as stated previously on my blog, two statements given by members of public have been provided to the council.

I also made a complaint to the standards committee regarding Cllr Dewis and his conduct.

Oakham Town Council- Problems with Councillors and Transparency

It is interesting to read about other councils, you soon find Oakham Town Council is not  different from many other English Town Councils, many run by egotistic people who are really very tiny people.
The Hertfordshire Mercury reported on Friday 19th June that Hertford Town Council were refusing to release information on how they spent public money and one of their councillors, John Hedley, was being investigated for misconduct.

Mr Hedley is Oakham's answer to Cllr Jan Fillingham.

Hertfordshire Mercury recently revealed that Hertford Town Council spent £36,3777.85 on legal fees in 2007/2008, but HTC refused to disclose details. This is an obscene amount of public money and the residents of Hertford have a right to know how their money is being spent. the people said it is disturbing our elected representatives in the Town Council are clearly withholding information from us. Town Council up and down the land forget they are using tax payers money to serve. Like the residents of Hertford I find it frustrating Oakham Town Council will often withhold information from me.
Only yesterday I was told by a member of the public what the council had decided was to happen at Royce Recreation ground, before we have even discussed it a councillors husband was giving this information out over lunch in a local bar.

Cllr John Hedley, is a member of East Herts District Council and Hertford Town Council, will be investigated by the Complaints Committee at East Herts District Council for breaching the Councillors' Code of Conduct. This is not the first time his behaviour has come into question. Last year he was suspended from Hertford Town Council for three months for being abusive. It was alleged he was drunk at the time, although he said it was the effect of his medication. It was at the suggested he be educated as to the effects of his medication and drink. If the investigation concludes against Cllr Hedley again, he has been asked to resign to maintain his own dignity and the reputation of both East Herts District Council and Hertford Town Council. If he is anything like some of Oakham Town Councillors he wont.

I also read Hertford Town Council is currently accredited as a Quality Town Council by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC). Our local council has undoubtedly had numerous achievements such as an active established Youth Town Council. But the latest scandals threaten its reputation and risk losing its Quality status.

For a Town/Parish council to achieve Quality Status, they must meet ten different criteria set by the NALC, including Test Six- Accountability. The NALC website describes this measure as 'to ensure that all Quality parish and town councils maintain accurate and transparent financial arrangements'. I  don't see that withholding information on how £36,000 public money was spent is either transparent or promotes accountability.

There are currently two vacant seats on Hertford Town Council, one as a result of the former Councillor Sacha Bright being expelled for not attending a single council meeting in six months. Ironically on his blog for Mr Bright's company EJ Creative, he states that he is 'an active member of Hertford Town Council'. The other vacant seat is as a result of the resignation of former councillor John Cook. Oakham Town Council has just filled to vacant seat with fresh fruit. I hope the foul gases from the rotten fruit at Oakham Town Council does not rot the new fruit so quickly.

Hertford Town Council is currently emblazoned in political scandals and risks losing the confidence of Hertford residents. In the next few days candidates will be announced for the two vacant seats and the by-election will take place on Tuesday 21st July. Recent events have showed that voting for a political party is by no means a guarantee of a person's suitability or integrity; Cllr Hedley and Sacha Bright were both members of the Conservative Party. Now that is no surprise old rotten tories.  The Hertford Scandals echo Oakham publicly we are told Oakham Town Council is non political that is one big fat lie. I am surprised the chamber is not painted a rotten blue.
Hertford residents say it is surprising that leaders of the local Conservative Party have not deselected Cllr Hedley, would you really want to be associated with such an abusive individual? We hope that this election will be an opportunity for local people to vote for a person, rather than a party. Surely two Independent Councillors would benefit Hertford Town Council.

Of course this won't happen, Cllr Jan Fillingham attacked our Tory Controlled Council in her end of term report. The incoming chairman refused to read it out at the Town Meeting. The Tory controlled Council have not taken any action. Cllr Jan Fillingham sit at home not attending meeting even though it was publicly announced at the same meeting she was now well.

The Tory controlled County Council have dealt very promptly with complaints made against me by their fellow Tories
unfortunately this is not the same when it comes to my complaints. I still wait to hear the outcome of complaints I made last year.

What I find interesting is all up and down the land Town Council issues are correctly covered by the local press.

There is no freedom of the press in Rutland, The Town Council are on first name terms with reporter and photographers.

Just before the start of a recent meeting it was mentioned Gary was off to a bigger place. Are we getting Adrea back ? No was the reply another name was mentioned and Councillor seemed pleased with that.

Of course we have media man Cllr Tor Clark on the Council will they be able to control him.

I am rather hoping he will feed info to a BBC satirical show and those who attended the Tesco meeting may get there wish to see Oakham Town Council on a spitting image style show.

Looking at the Town Council web site it is good to see a cheerful new face.

My photo is terrible I am hoping Mr Walters will offer to take another one. I did not do a good job myself.

I was sent a link last week suggesting his was the best looking, I will decline to comment.

It gave me good idea for next weeks vote. I will run two poles.

I noticed my new appointments have been listed.

Oakham Festival, One of the groups that don't want me because they were shown emails,  containing comments relating to Oakham Town Councillors. They also say I have blogged inaccurate info about them. Then tell me and it could be corrected if true. As for my emails shown to you why not question the motives of the person showing them and what if anything do they have to do with the arts in Rutland apart from most of your members support the Cllrs involved with the problem I have to deal with.

Oakham Town Council give one of larger sums of tax payers money to this group and it tells me they have never had a member of the Council attend its committee meetings.

Surely the tax payer has a right to know this money is spent wisely

I would suggest funding is not given next year. No wonder Oakham School withdrew funding two years ago.

Thank you for your letter informing Oakham Festival Committee that Mr M Brookes
was nominated as representative from the town council to the festival.

Unfortunately the festival committee is unable to accept this nomination. (now here is the funny bit I am sure if you welcome someone you have accepted?)
We welcomed Mr Brookes to our launched on Friday, (she actually made an effort to publicly announce my acceptance)
but since then we have seen written inaccuracies about our work and many emails with comments and disparaging remarks about councillors, others and the festival.  (I have asked the town clerk to ask Joy Everitt to show us the emails containing the disparaging remarks, his reply was I will ask but she doesn't have to show them) (even if these emails did exist, I would be concerned if a Cllr was distributing to members of the public all my emails sent to Cllr clearly states the following  "Any form of reproduction, dissemination, copying, disclosure, modification, distribution and/or publication of this e-mail message is strictly prohibited.")
The festival is made up of volunteers and works very hard to put on a mix of entertainment over the two weeks of the festival. (now the grovel otherwise who would pay for the wine) We value the support and interest and sponsorship from the town council, but do not feel this appointment would benefit either party.
We hope to work closely with you all in the future. We will submit our evaluation, accounts and tickets as normal after the festival.

At the end of the festival there is a party in the castle grounds they charge considerable more at the door to keep out ordinary locals. Oakham Fun Day and Carnival

I was wondering who the other committee members are for the Oakham Fun Day and Carnival.

I was elected to represent the Council on this committee along with the Oakham Festival.

Stangely within hours of this election Joy Everitt and other members of the Oakham Festival were informed.

I am told this was not the case for the Oakham Carnival and Fun Day. Although the Chairman was present as a Cllr at our very good Town Council meeting.

The Clerk said he wrote to the Chairman to formally notify the committee, sadly she has had a accident so she would not have seen the letter.

I find it hard to believe the deputy chair or any other members did not know I was appointed and then make themselves known to me.

I was looking forward to assisting at the event. I will not be attending any event I am not welcome at.

For others the event takes place this Sunday in Cutts Close the Carnival will reflect one hundred years of Oakham.

Unfortunately my evidence is second hand and therefore inadmissable. However ******** told me last night that Cllr Mrs Joyce Lucas has to her - at Royce's Opening Day - that you were a paedophile. You had already told me that ********* had told you that Joyce Lucas had run you down to *********, but not what had been said. I then understood from ******** that she hadn't told you precisely how Joyce Lucas had run you down.

*********** - being a good friend - said she felt she did not want you to know what Cllr Joyce Lucas had actually said, presumably because it was too hurtful. She told me in confidence and asked me not to make an issue of it. I am afraid that I felt it far too dangerous and far too important to keep that confidence entirely. Whilst I didn't mention who had told me and said during the Council meeting that I had been told in confidence I realised that Cllr Joyce Lucas had guessed who told me, precisely because she must have remembered ********* telling her off for spreading malicious and untrue rumours about you time.

Cllr Joyce Lucas then told you that 'the three of them are trouble makers,' I presume she was pointing at the back row where the seats for the public are. I also presume that this was a tacit and perhaps inadvertent admission of guilt on her part. had no real evidence that what ********* had told me was true, but for Cllr Lucas to include ********* in her invective was an admission that she knew what she had said to *********. So far as I was cod this was proof positive that ********** was indeed telling the truth.

Whilst I understand ********* thinking I could not concur with her and felt that no only should you be told, so should the Council. Frankly the seriousness of this allegation is so severe that the only way to fight it was openly - so that the whole Council knew what Joyce Lucas was saying about you. How many other people she had told is a matter of conjecture, but to have told someone she didn't know - who just happened to be a friend of yours - is indicative that many more he been given this malicious and criminally slanderous information.

The ramifications for you personally could be really serious. People someties take it into their heads to fire bomb the homes of paedophiles, so in my view your life had become endangered by this false allegation and it needed to stop immediately and a full retraction and disciplinary procedures taken in order to make public her deliberate and destructive rumour mongering was scotched at source.

I would be happy to write to someone should you wish me to, but as I said the only part of the picture I can testify to is Joyce's final finger pointing at ********* when I had not mentioned *********as being my source.

This morning I visited Oakham Town Council Office, I was told Cllr Joyce Lucas was not resigning.

I requested a meeting with her and the chairman. this was refused.

I spoke over the phone to  Councillor Spencer and she said there was nothing she could do, but she would call and speak to the deputy chairman.

I was told if I did not leave the council office the police would be called.

Before I left I telephoned Cllr Lucas who repeated I will not resign and put the phone down on me.

Whilst sitting in the gallery my fellow Cllr Charles Haworth visited the office for a meeting with the Clerk, he had recovered since his illness last night. I said I was pleased to see he had recovered an he ignored me.

Oakham Town Council is certainly a bunch that sticks together. They need to go!

Cllr Joyce Lucas Oakham Town Council Resign!

Dear Mr Pook and Oakham Town Council,


At the opening of the Royce Recreation Ground Cllr Joyce Lucas spoke to a member of the public.

This member of the public was so shocked as they knew me. Cllr Joyce Lucas told the member of the public I am a paedophile. This explains why young people frequently call me this other members of the public have suggested Cllr Lucas walks around the ward smearing my name no wonder they won't tell me what she is saying.

The member of the public is a very close friend of mine and will not give evidence for fear of reprisal.

They informed another friend of mine, Helen Pender, who was told in confidence and at the council meeting she breeched this confidence and told the full council, Cllr Lucas had told the member of the public I am a paedophile.

As I walked the deserted streets of Oakham Town Centre this afternoon

Tesco serving less customers than any Sunday I wondered why?

Where are all the people?

I popped into see the Town Clerk, then I stopped to chat to local

artist Stephen Wigmore, he is very wise, His show still on at Victoria Hall) he knew where all people were

at home or down at the pub, football was the answer.

I don't understand why?

But if England do get into the final. I may find myself drawn to the

television. Its the same for Big Brother & X factor.

In the Chair tonight will be the redoubtable Cllr Joyce Lucas who so ably chaired the Tesco Council meeting on 26th May, which impressed all residents attending. One comment after that meeting was: @It was better than the Vicar of Dibley' - that from **********. How well observed ***********! It was certainly a most memorable evening.

If there's nothing much on television tonight this meeting might be worth a visit too. It is after all festival week and I can't see any comedy evenings listed elsewhere on the programme.

Having attended last weeks "extra" meeting on June 16th to see for myself exactly what goes on at the town council I find it bewildering that my recollection of the events differ greatly to the proposed minutes. I recall being very surprised at the wall of silence that greeted Cllr Brookes upon proposing that the press and members of the public be excluded from confidential discussions regarding co-option of two new Councillors. NO-ONE seconded or commented at all. An embarrassing silence and stony expressions all around. Motion obviously not carried. I presumed - in my naivety - that the proceedings would have to begin with members of the public in situ. How wrong can one be. Apparently at Oakham Town Council after ignoring Cllr Brookes proposal another member (Cllr Alf Dewis - according to Council website photo) can see fit to announce that maybe the public shouldn't be at the discussion after all and without further ado - no seconding or discussion - the motion was somehow carried and out we went. I do not object to being excluded but to the way Cllr Brookes was totally ignored - it was petty and childish. I was also at a loss as to why it was an extra meeting of the Council when Standing Order 76e clearly states the decision on co-option will be taken at the next scheduled meeting but I can see that standing orders don't always apply (mobile phone - Cllr Swiffin) and rules can be disregarded at will when it suits. This was my first experience of a meeting and it was a sham.

The festival Chairman Joy Everitt a good friend of councillors and Mr George Carey. has wrote to her good friend the Town Clerk an undated letter addressing it to Richard not the council. Speaking with the clerk he is considering asking the council to revoke the six month rule from standing orders so members can revisit this item and appoint a new member.

I can not see how the council can do this as I was elected and certainly wont resign from this appointment.

Rutland Times Standards Letter Writer

In a recent comment on my Blog I was accused of making many standards complaints.

I believe this is unfair. I think you will agree as you read on.

A former councillor attends meetings and has made it known to me there has not been a single meeting where there has not been a serious breach of standing orders.

when one of these incidents was passed to the Town Clerk his response was I wish people would not keep complaining about little things. It is the little things that are meant to keep the big thing running smoothly.

A resident wrote to last weeks Rutland Times, very concerned about the level of complaints aimed at Oakham Town Council.

He may get the feeling they are all from me, wrong information was leaked to Rutland Radio, who broadcast my name until the press office of Rutland County Council asked them to withdraw the news item.

The writer of the letter says he may use the freedom of information act to find details of the complaints. If that works I would like to know.

Complaints are handled in a very secret way. Minutes of Rutland County Councils Standards Committee are available, unfortunately the only contain the basic details with no names.

I would like to see all complaints dealt with publicly I would like to publish all details unfortunately the local government act forbids that. If complaints are investigated by Standard for England the law only allows the publication of the finding and this most likely wont contain the complainants name.

Without intentional breaking the law I publish the following information.

Cllr Dewis is a new Cllr and and for a new boy has risen very quickly within the council. I suggest he is trampling his way to the top.

Cllr Dewis has assaulted me and constantly obstructed me. He tells the police his raised  hand came into contact with me because I walked past him. The police support there committee member and no action is taken.

Oakham Town Council Planning meeting Wednesday

Oakham Town Council is becoming more and more like a dictatorship and no I have not lost the plot yet!

I can not believe they were seriously going to attempt to delegate decisions relating to planning applications to the Assistant Clerk, poor Alison, next they will be giving her dog powers to signs cheques.

If the Clerk went off sick they wanted to delegate legal powers from the planning committee which is made up of all elected members. to the assistant clerk, Chairman Joyce Lucas and nominated councillors. and they would consider applications outside of a planning meeting.

Of course if this motion had been passed and I am sure it would have been if the clerk had taken sick leave, all Oakham's planning approvals or disapproval could have been challenged in the courts.

Whoever proposed this needs to resign and those who would have supported it should also think hard.

Oakham Town Council is not an exclusive club it believe or not is meant to serve the town.

Luckily that did not happen the agenda item was ignored.

Planning meetings by law are required to be public meetings and Oakham Town Council should not ignore that law.

This Wednesday Oakham Town Council is open to the public from 7pm
for two meetings Planning and General Purposes Committee and Parks Committee

As we are having a meeting it could be interesting if you attended the farce of a meeting that considered the Tesco Application.

Same charactor will be chairing the meeting not to be missed, not good if you are one of many people who have put forward a plan.

If  you ever have a problem with your planning your application you should appeal, I would, none of us are trained in planning matters, that includes the clerk, who we can seek advice from. in general if a councillor knows you and likes you it passes, if not you have no hope.

Rutland County Council ban Staff from reading my blog

Rutland County Council has this week banned all its staff
from reading my blog.

Rutland County Council failed to stop
 me blogging by threatening to ban me from the library.

I do hope the staff can continue to view outside work. I wondered why Rutland County Council
was not showing so high in my statistics. It used to read over 200 hits a day.

Thanks for reading if you do work for RCC dont be tempted to look at work Briggs is looking to make cuts, to justify her wage most likely. that may be about ten times higher than yours.  the council is so poor at the moment the loss of a few staff wold help a lot. so please wait till you get home.

Arts For Rutland and Oakham Festival

Today has been a very eventful day.

It all started when I opened my emails to find abuse from George Carey, Committee Member for Arts for Rutland.

Mr Carey used to work for Rutland County Council, once again the common link another common link to my troubles is Mr Carey likes to drink, I believe this happened when he lost his job in a new county after leaving his job at Rutland County Council.

Sadly Mr Carey has a part time job behind the bar in the Wheatsheaf, so that will be a nice pub on my list to avoid in the future.

I am very pleased Mr Carey has done the right thing by offering his resignation and hope it is accepted, allthough I believe the elite will reluctently accept his offer.

Now we arrive at the Oakham Festival Committee. While I was visiting the Council office the chairman of the Committee telephoned and spoke with the town clerk, I could clearly hear Joy Everret. She had decided the Oakham Festival committee did not want me as the Town Councils elected appointed rep. I guess she is still happy to accept the tax payers contribution they receive each year to spend as they wish amongst the elite.
Joy was attempting to drag The Town Clerk into a conversation against me. Of course this time the Town Clerk was very professional and told Joy he could not say anything because I was standing next to him.

I will be questioning the legality of this decision, I have been advised what ever happens Oakham Town Council can not appoint another member for six months, because of the six month agenda rule and I have not and certainly wont resign from the appointment.

I see Arts for Rutland and Oakham Festival groups as exclusive group the program for this year festival is one of the worse, spaces filled with events in pubs and church and Oakham School that would go ahead festival or no festival.

At Friday's launch reception I met a few nice artists, but most of the people who attend could be seen at any Rutland's events where there is free booze and grub on offer. Most of the ignorant people ignored me No ordinary members of the public attended.

There should be and these people should take a look at themselves and ask why?

I really hope the Arts Council stop funding these elite groups, I know Rutland County Council wont stop funding because of its connections and the same for Oakham Town Council.

The way these people behave towards me is a disgrace. the bullying, harassment must stop! a police officer said he did not think it would ever stop and he said they messed up by allowing me to become a councillor and advised me not to lower myself to there level.

I agree but it is hard when one person is attacked by so many people in such a nasty way.

Cllr Fillingham said I deserve all I get.  I can only difference between her herself, her friends and drinkers in the street is they all have homes. The street don't harass, intimidate or bully you for over a year.

The sad thing about this all is I really support proper artists, not these stupid committee members. I enjoy the talents of our many local artists and was looking forward to helping them if the wanted my help.

Mr Carey Arts For Rutland to Resign

I am pleased to read Mr Carey is offering his resignation and few more should follow.


The Bullying and Harassment I have been subjected to over the past year by

the friends of Cllr Jan Fillingham has been totally unacceptable.

If readers  check Arts for Rutland Web Site you will see Arts for Rutland is funded by the Tax Payer,
Funding from Rutland County Council and The Arts Council.

And it must stop!

I have told you before that I do not like you and don't agree with what

you are doing and I have been incensed with the pain and anguish you

have inflicted upon a number of people in Oakham that I know and and

respect. I do not wish to have any communications from you on any

subject. These are my own views and are not in anyway associated with

Arts for Rutland. I do not want any personal issues I have with you to

detract from the hard work and public benefit that other members of

Arts for Rutland have brought to Rutland, and with that in view I have

offered my resignation from the Committee.

Incidentally you have got your facts wrong yet again, - Maureen Dodds

does not sit on the RATS Committee or any other Committee of which I am

involved. As far as I understand the tax-payer is not funding Arts for

Rutland.
